Knuckles Weather and Precipitation

 The main Knuckles region receive an annual rainfall about 5080mm, while the eastern lower slopes receive around 2540 - 3810 mm of rainfall annually. The average annual temperature ranges from about 18.5°C to 26 °C . Due to this variation is rainfall several different types of forests can be found within the Knuckles forests area,

         01) Tropical wet lowland semi - evergreen forests

         02) Tropical sub montane wet semi - evergreen forests 

         03) Tropical montane wet evergreen forests

         04) Montane grassland 

                                              can be found in this area. In addition , colorful vegetation, mountain peaks, cliffs plateaus and many other diverse land from are present here. The forest also contains beautiful landscapes that cannot be seen anyway else on the island. Furthermore , many rare species of plants and animals that are endemic to Sri Lanka can be found within the reserve.
