The Amazon rainforest often called the "lungs of the Earth" is the largest tropical rainforest in the world, spanning of 5.5 million square kilometers across 9 countries in South America. It is home to more than 400 billion trees and over 3 million is species of plants and animals.
The river Amazon is the second longest river in the world and carries more water than any other river. Some the largest animal in the rain forest include the Jaguar, Anaconda and pink river dolphin.
Indigenous tribes such as the Yanomami and Kayapo, have lived in the Amazon for centuries, using the forest sustainably. The Amazon also produced 20% of the world's Oxygen and phrase a circle role in regulating Global climate.
However deforestation has become a server problem. Every year approximately 70% age of the Amazon has been lost due to the logging, farming and mining. Scientists warn that continued destruction may lead to the disappearance of many species and severely impact the Earth's environment.png)
